ARTIST STATEMENT
I am an encaustic artist drawn to the luminous, tactile qualities of beeswax. My work explores the intersection of texture, memory, and transformation through a process that is both intuitive and deeply physical. The act of melting, layering, and fusing wax allows me to build surfaces that hold depth and history—each layer partially revealing and partially obscuring what came before.
I work both purely in wax and through mixed media, often incorporating my own photography into the encaustic surface. By embedding photographic imagery within layers of wax, I create a dialogue between the ephemeral and the permanent, the seen and the concealed. These pieces become vessels for storytelling, where personal moments and abstract forms coexist.
Beeswax itself is central to my practice—not only for its natural beauty and versatility, but for its organic, living quality. It responds to heat, touch, and time, making each piece a collaboration between artist and material. I am continually inspired by this balance of control and unpredictability.
Through my work, I invite viewers to slow down and engage with surface, light, and depth—encouraging a closer look at what lies beneath and what emerges over time. To raise the question “how did she do this?”
