Garden Flight23 3/4” x 11 1/2” x 2”I briefly raised butterflies in my garden. I would gather the caterpillar when I knew they were close to going into Chrysalis to protect them from birds and other bugs. When they did their magic and became butterflies I took some pictures while their wings were drying, then they happily flew away in search of nectar.
Keep me sheltered 11 7/8” x 17 3/4’ x 1 3/4’Part of my self portrait series. I have always had a fear of loosing everything. I have had some tough times in my life that I only share with those that are close to me, so a sense of security is of the utmost importance. Hence the name.
Garden Secrets12”x 16” x 1” Only my garden knows my secrets.
Breaking Free18 1/4” x 12 1/2” x 1 3/4”he time had come for me to be free. Retirement. We work so hard all our lives usually for someone else. You have to become what you need to and do what you need to, to make it bearable. Some people are blessed working their lives and enjoying or being appreciated for what they do. I did most of my life until the very end. I was so tired not being able to express the person I was. So when I retired from my very last job I broke free.
centered22 3/4”x 8 7/8” x 1 3/4”mixed media encaustic - photo encaustic, monotype, gold leaf, string and beads.
entrance15” x 24” x 1 3/4”skull series of 6. This photo was taken at the entrance to someone’s property. I chose this particular one to digitally enhance and incorporate with wax, oils and pan pastels. The entrance is really quite impressive.
skull II17 1/4” x 11 3/4” x 2”skull series - Photo taken in N.C. while I was on an encaustic retreat and observing the works of a great encaustic artist. This skull was hanging with a rusty chain hanging over it by their wood pile and begged to photographed. I had fun trying different edits to bring it to life and was happy with this…then the wax
Skull III12” x16” x1”Every where in Wyoming there are Skulls on display. I enjoyed photography them knowing I would use them in my encaustic series. This one was actually in a huge pile of antlers and occasionally there was a skull thrown in.
Horse skull12 1/4” x 23 x 1 3/4”Image of a horse skull printed on rice paper and engulfed in wax medium. I don’t usually use an iron to melt and apply wax, but had so much enjoyment doing that with this piece.
Skull VDefinitely inspired by Georgia O’keeffe on this one. My husband acctually found this while walking our dog. I am thinking it might be a squirrel.
